Frank B. Lee ( medic ) and I were summoned to the village of Binh Gia to give medical treatment to a young girl. Her foot was run over by an ox cart. Sgt Lee and St. Pierre are in the photo.
We were called to Binh Gia another night when a young boy lost his fingers due to an explosion. The story was that he had 'found' a detinator from a hand grenade and it went off. We doubted the story and figured he was forced by the VC to build small bombs. Using young children for this was a common practice. The young boy never cried, but just looked confused and most likely in shock. We did what we could and called a medivac. We waited till dawn to drive back to Duc Thanh. Driving a jeep at night was dangerous and the explosive accident could have been a way to get us out at night for an ambush.
