Aussie  checking a tunnel out North of Duc Thanh on one of our operation. ( Crow's Nest ? )
Australian W/O Scorse to the left and rear. 'The Frenchman' that ran the rubber plantation at Binh Ba. S.Sgt Frank B. Lee, our medic at Duc Thanh.

The Frenchman told Major Prescott that the local VC came around at night to collect taxes. My impression was that he would talk to the VC tax collectors. He would have to walk a very thin tight rope in order to keep the Rubber Plantation running and to stay alive.
We traded weapons that we captured to American combat engineers ( their commanding officer in Saigon ). They in turn built us this place to live.

As darkness approached, the generator would be turned off and a blackout condition would exist. We would lower plywood over the screens ( visible the length of the building above the jeep ). We would then write letters by an oil lamp.

Our bunker is to the right under the 50 cal. machine gun tower.
One of the two sisters here was severely burned and didn't survive.
